New Pop it Ups Releases Now Available!

Hi all! I'm so excited to share this card with you! I've been holding off on posting it until the dies were available at Elizabeth Craft Designs - and they are in stock today. Yay!

I made this card a few weeks ago for my friend, Cyndi's, birthday. The minute I saw Karen's Chicken Wire die I knew I wanted to use it like this - where it was open to the inside of the card. I used my Faux Tarnished Silver technique on it to give it the look of real chicken wire. Needless to say, I am madly in love with this die!

One of my other favorites (and there are many) is the Fence Pop Stand die. What's great about this set is that the fence can be used separately, like I've done on the front of my card. After cutting the fence from kraft cardstock, I painted it with a Picket Fence Distress dabber and then sanded it off, adding brown ink to give it a worn look. All the papers are from Graphic 45. Unfortunately this collection is retired. :(

For the inside I used Karen's Lorna Label die, turned on its side. I added a greeting that was cut with dies from the Happy Birthday Pop Up set. I added some stamping and fussy cut flowers and was done!

If you missed it earlier this month, this is the card I created to celebrate the new release. I can't wait to use these dies more - this is definitely one of Karen's best releases yet!

The new dies can be found at Elizabeth Craft Designs via the links below. I've also linked to Simon Says Stamp for the other supplies I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - have a great weekend!

Frilly & Funkie - Raise it Up!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope your week has been going well. Today I'm sharing my project for the latest Frilly and Funkie challenge. Pamellia is the hostess this time and she's challenging us to Raise it Up! Says Pamellia, 'I want to see lots of layers, lots of panels and/or lots of elements on your shabby chic or vintage project, BUT they must be raised up! Whether you choose to use pop dots, foam squares, silicone glue or another means of support, make sure they stand tall!'

I hope I did Pamellia proud! I decided to create a little garden journal using Eileen Hull's new Passport Book die and lots of grungy vintage goodness from Tim Holtz. If you follow my Facebook or Instagram pages, you know that my husband and I been working on building new flower beds and laying a cobblestone walkway. It's exhausting work, but so worth it! I thought a little book to hold all my photos would be a perfect project for this challenge.

The covers of the book are made from chipboard and covered with papers from Tim. I added die cuts and lots of fussy cut pieces on mounted on foam dots to give it depth and interest. Torn pieces of Tim's new Design Tape peek out here and there, and idea-ology embellishments give it the perfect vintage look.

The inside pages were cut from plain white cardstock. I used various stencils from Tim Holtz, plus Distress Stain Spray to decorate them. I tucked in a few different things here and there, like tags, vintage papers, and ephemera to give myself lots of places to add photos and jot down notes. I plan to print out the pictures I've been taking in my garden and add them to the book.

I hope you've enjoyed my garden journal and are inspired to join in with us at the Frilly and Funkie challenge this week. You can find all the details in this post.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Pop it Ups Designer Challenge - Homegrown Holidays

Hi all! Today I'm sharing my card for Karen Burniston's July Designer Challenge. This month, we're a little bit country! With Karen's new dies coming out soon, she wanted us to share our Homegrown Holidays cards. My card started out to be a quick and simple card, but you know how that goes! I was having so much fun I couldn't stop adding little details to it.

Ever since the Barn Pop Stand die set came out, I knew I wanted to make a wintry card with a snowy red barn. I started by cutting white cardstock to 5" x 10" to created a five inch square card. Next, I used the Evergreen Pivot die to cut the pop up element. On the right side I added a barn that was cut from kraft cardstock and painted with Barn Door (of course) Distress paint. The wreath was cut twice from green cardstock using a die from Karen's new Rudy the Reindeer set and tied with twine. All the snow was created with Ranger's Texture Paste and Elizabeth Craft Designs Warm Diamond glitter.

It's easy to elongate the new fence from the new Fence Pop Stand die set to any length you want. Just place the top cutting pad over the die, then pull it back to the center of the last post and cut - that way the die won't cut all the way through the end fence post. Then move the die down, matching it up with the previous cut. Place the cutting pad over the die, leaving the other half of the last post uncovered and cut. You could also just glue two together, but that would have made it too bulky to fold for this card.

To color my fence, I used Frayed Burlap Distress paint. To make the fence pop out when the card is open, make sure it's slightly shorter than the width of the card and adhere the ends to the outside of the card. You might have to play around with the length of the posts to make sure it doesn't interfere with the pivot mechanism. I trimmed mine down until it didn't catch - very easy!

The horse silhouette die is one of my faves from the new Western Edges die set. I cut the horses from brown cardstock and then white and layered them together. The sky was created by clear embossing the snowflakes from Karen's new Merry and Bright stamp set and then inking over them with Stormy Sky ink.

See that banner? The sentiment says 'from our family to yours', but I wanted to reflect my farm theme, so I simply stamped the word 'farm' from Karen's other new stamp set - Homegrown Greetings - then snipped it out and adhered it over the word family. Perfect! I used the banner from the Lots of Pops set to cut it out. So cute!

I kept the card front fairly simple. I added another horse to match the one on the inside, a snowy hill, and a small tree. The sentiment from Karen's Merry and Bright set was stamped with Wendy Vecchi's Red Geranium Archival ink (my all-time favorite red ink!).

You know I love my little videos! It's so fun to see how the fence pops out when you open the card.

All the supplies I used can be found at Elizabeth Craft Designs and Simon Says Stamp via the links below. To read more about Karen's new Pop it Ups release, check out THIS post on her blog.
